1999年3月30日，远在东莞工厂打工做保安的父亲寄出了他最后一封家信；过了几天他意外去世了，这一年他36岁。记忆里，为了更好的在广东找到工作，他曾学习了粤语。

2020年，我即将跨入我的36岁，我带着父亲的这封信回到了他最后生活过的地方（东莞）。我将这封信的内容拆成了36段式，分别找了36位在东莞工作的保安教会我这36段粤语；最后我再将这封信用粤语完整的读了出来。

On March 30, 1999, my late father, who worked far from home as a factory security guard in Dongguan, had sent his very last letter to our family. He died accidentally a few days later. He was 36. From what I remember, he had learnt Cantonese, hoping to stand a chance of landing a job in Guangdong.

In 2020, I would be 36. Carrying my father’s last letter, I returned to where he lived before his death (Duangguan). I divided his message into 36 segments and invited 36 security guards who work inthe city to teach me how to read them in Cantonese. Finally, I recited the whole letter in Cantonese.
